Welcome to the National Women’s Conference

#Beyond the Written Nairobi 2015
is an exciting and interactive exchange of ideas surrounding the National Action Plan (NAP) on the Kenya Women’s Charter by giving priorities towards the realization of women’s rights.
The development of the Kenya Women’s National Charter – National Action Plan is spearheaded by Women’s Empowerment Link (WEL), in collaboration with 43 likeminded partner organizations under the auspices of Mwamko Mpya: Uongozi Bora Initiative including the National Gender & Development Commission, currently the National Gender & Equality Commission, Ministry of Gender and Social development currently The Gender Directorate Under the Ministry of Devolution and planning developed the Kenya Women’s National Charter through a consultative process with 21 counties. This Charter will be launched during the National Action Plan 2015, scheduled for 26th and 27th February 2015 at the Safricom Stadium (formerly Moi International Sports Center) Kasarani.
The Launch brings together 1000 stakeholders drawn from 47 counties, Government Civil Society and Development partners at Bomas for a two day conference. The launch is the official platform where the government adopts the National Action Plan and begins to develop strategies to mainstream this framework throughout its sectors and agencies. The National Action Plan will serve as the National implementation and tracking mechanism for the Kenya National Women’s Charter; while addressing the topical issues in the implementation of the gender gains in the implementation of the constitution both at County and National level.
