Call for Applications for the 2014 Young Women Leadership Training
This is an empowerment project targeting 20 outstanding young women who have exhibited leadership potential in their community, organization, and/or profession.
To be eligible for the training, an applicant must be a young woman aged between 18 to 35 years. The project aims to have a cadre of young women leaders with enriched leadership qualities and skills to participate in and influence the governance processes at county and national level and to promote democratic and inclusive leadership. We plan to strengthen a network of young women leaders nationally. In this regard WEL will conduct a 5 days training for young women leaders from all parts of the country.

Young Women in Leadership and Governance Training 2013

WEL in collaboration with CREA;a feminist human rights organization based in New Delhi, India that works to advance the rights of women and girls,and the sexual and reproductive freedoms of all people; conducted a five day training reaching 17 young women leaders from 13 counties, facing challenges in the leadership sphere in Kenya.
As a result, the “Inspired to Aspire” training equipped them with accurate information, increasing their understanding on gender, women in leadership and governance as well as on new systems offered by the government thus prompting them to network and engage strategically on political and civic spheres at national and county levels. As a result they gained knowledge on how to access and participate in advocacy for policy and social change, as reflected in their individual work plans.
